  • HOW DOES CHIROPRACTIC CARE HELP?
The brain controls how everything works in our bodies. Whether it is your heart beating, stomach digesting, or a muscle relaxing, your brain is controlling that function. The brain communicates to every part of our body through the nerves. Every nerve comes out through our spine at some level. Chiropractors deal with that interface between the spine and the nervous system. We remove any type of interference to the nervous system from the spine by getting the spine to function more normally. This allows your body to heal and function more normally. The added benefit of getting proper biomechanics back into the spine is that it helps slow down or stop spinal arthritis and degeneration.
  • I DIDN'T HEAR A SOUND. DOES THAT MEAN THE ADJUSTMENT DIDN'T WORK?
No, it does not. The sound is gas being released from the joint like popping a cork on a bottle of champagne when it’s opened. To get better motion and position into the spine, the sound does not have to happen just like you can open a bottle of champagne without any pop.
  • DOES INSURANCE COVER CHIROPRACTIC VISITS?
Most insurance companies offer some amount of chiropractic coverage. However, your copay may be high. Our office offers plans that help keep your cost under the average copay. If you wish to use your insurance, we can provide documentation that you can mail in to your insurance company for reimbursement.
  • HOW SAFE IS CHIROPRACTIC?
While all forms of healthcare have some amount of risk, chiropractic has been shown to be exceedingly safe. During our first visit together, our examination will be used to make sure that chiropractic care will not only be beneficial for you, but that it is also safe for you to receive. Some people may experience mild soreness after an adjustment, but we cater our care to your comfort level to ensure that you have the best experience possible.
  • IS CHIROPRACTIC CARE SAFE WHILE I'M PREGNANT?
Chiropractic care is very safe for pregnant women. Dr Stan has treated many women throughout their pregnancies, including his wife and daughter. Chiropractic care is a great option for an expecting mom who is experiencing lower back and hip pain, as well as round ligament pain.
  • CAN I BECOME ADDICTED TO CHIROPRACTIC CARE?
No, but you can become addicted to being healthy and feeling good. Many patients choose to see the chiropractor regularly to help their spine and nervous system function at its best. Just like people may choose to eat healthy, workout, and see their dentist regularly. It is about health and prevention, not addiction.
  • IS CHIROPRACTIC SAFE FOR CHILDREN?
Chiropractic is very safe and effective for children of ALL ages. Many studies have shown this. Kids have spines and nervous systems too. The fun thing about working with children is that they respond so rapidly. They haven’t had years of abuse to their spines and nervous systems like most adults have. Their spines respond so much faster and the adjustment can be very light and gentle to get that response. It is not normal for a child to complain about ongoing pains. If they are, get their spines checked right away to prevent further problems down the road.
  • HOW MUCH SCHOOLING DOES A CHIROPRACTOR HAVE?
Chiropractic school is a 4 year doctoral program. The subjects covered are equivalent to the first 2 years of medical school and actually include more in classroom hours than medical school. Chiropractic education focuses on holistic treatment, meaning that we understand that every small part of the body can affect other areas that may seem unrelated.
  • CAN I SEE A CHIROPRACTOR IF I'VE HAD BACK SURGERY?
Yes. Chiropractic care is safe for people who've had back surgery. We can avoid surgical areas of the spine while still providing beneficial treatment to the rest of the spine and body.
  • HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO WORK?
Chiropractic will start to work with your very first adjustment. However, that is a very different question then how long will it take until I feel better or how long will it take before it is fixed. How long before one starts feeling better is a question that is hard to answer. Everyone feels pain differently. How long a problem has been there is another factor that plays into the speed of feeling better. Another factor is how severe the pain is to start. Some people feel great after one adjustment. Some people take more time to get relief. How long does it take to fix the underlying condition (if possible) is another story. That takes time, repetition, and retraining. Those questions are answered after a complete evaluation is done to know what is going on and whether chiropractic can help or not.
  • DO I HAVE TO HAVE MY NECK ADJUSTED?
We understand that some people are hesitant about having their neck adjusted. Much of this hesitancy comes from watching too many action movies in the 80's. If you are having a neck complaint, obviously it's important to adjust that area. But if you are not having a neck complaint, it may still be important but not necessary. We do offer cervical adjustments that do not involve manual manipulation or a "popping" sound. We utilize gentle instrument techniques that can effectively benefit the cervical spine without having your neck "popped".
